Born in Toronto, I consider myself fortunate to be surrounded by urban beauty in our city within a park and within short drives from the big city.

Most of my painting ideas are taken from my hikes and observations in and around the greater Toronto and surrounding areas. From iconic streetcars to tranquil gardens, parks and trails, I add a mix of realism and fantasy to these everyday scenes.

Along my journeys, I photograph urban or rural scenes that capture my attention and use these photographs as my reference images for the colourful paintings I create in my studio.

Using a variety of application methods, acrylic paints allow me the versatility to create different painterly effects such as watercolour backgrounds or thicker oil finishing touches to my paintings.

My art is meant to appeal to both local residents who may recognize familiar places and to anyone who appreciates urban beauty. The busyness of life can take away from our observations of what is within our reach. I hope my art brings an awareness of the rural and urban beauty close to home.

Although I have spent many hours learning to paint on my own, various classes and workshops with fellow artists, including but not limited to Toronto School of Art, Tim Gagnon, and Tim Packer Academy have augmented my fine art skills. My education and work life in the printing/prepress industry have enhanced my composition skills in my fine arts pursuits. I am an active member of several local art clubs.

My paintings have been showcased at various group shows some of which include DVAC Todmorden Papermill Gallery, SOYRA Aurora Art Shows, Riverdale Art Show, Riverdale ArtWalk, the Guild Alive with Arts Festival, Whitchurch-Stouffville Art in the Park, the Art Guild of Scarborough group shows, the Oshawa Art Association group shows, Queen West Art Crawl and the Toronto Public Library. Selected paintings have been used and/or sold to a variety of customers including individual clients, PaintNite events, reprinted greeting cards and calendars.
